From:  "Pittard, Barry"
Date:  Thu Dec 5, 2002  12:44 am
Subject:  Letter from Barry Pittard to the President of the UN Association of Australia.

TO: Managing Editor. Executive Editor. Foreign Editor. New York Times

Please copy to Ben Bradsher.

As time permits, I submit further of my material re Sathya Sai Baba.
Not least, see below, may you be interested in an Indian response to my
letter from: Director, Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative in New
Delhi, Maja Daruwala, to whom Professor Margaret Reynolds President,
United Nations Association of Australia had referred me.

Letter from Barry Pittard to the President of the UN Association of Australia

I shall separately send you yet another Indian response - the
extraordinarily high poll rating of 92% of respondents in a The
Newspaper Today, Page 1., SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 01, 2001, who voted that
Sai Baba should be investigated by the Centre (that is, the Federal
Government of India). You may access this at:

The Newspaper Today from September 1, 2001

This result may have been influenced a previous recent cover story of ten or so pages which we strongly campaigned for and got in India Today. This magazine goesto millions of readers in India and beyond, and is published in eleven languages. You can contact Vijay Tapa, one of India's seniorjournalists, who led the story for India Today. The Board and legal advisors of India Today were privy to copies of affidavits from many victims of Sathya Sai Baba sexual molestation. (One point to make is that many more victims, worldwide, have emerged, including some who give every indication of an especially strong, courageous and fighting
spirit).

Faithfully, Barry Pittard
